15-minute Affirmation Exercise: Own your Truth
Hello, dear one.
Sit down. Breathe in. Breathe out. We’re going to take the next 15 minutes just for you.
As I’ve guided countless women through trauma, hardship, and loss, I’ve returned to the practice of loving affirmations to help these women stay grounded in their bodies and their truth. When we’re going through change or challenges, we often feel unanchored. Reconnecting with our breath (and our bodies) can be the daily reset we need. On top of that, reading loving truths reminds us of the big picture: that we’re resilient. And that we’re worthy of standing in our own truth.
The exercise starts with an affirmation script, followed by self-reflection questions. While you can do the affirmation any way that you feel comfortable, I find that the following two options work great:
Option 1: Reading the affirmation aloud. This option is best if you are comfortable meditating or practicing mindfulness with your eyes open.
Option 2: Recording the affirmation using your phone, and then listening back to the recording. This option is best if you prefer to lie down and close your eyes while you practice this self-care exercise.
Before you begin, find a comfortable place to sit (or lie down). Take a moment to feel the way your body connects with the surface beneath you. Notice your breath. There’s no need to slow down or count your breaths- just breathe naturally.
Your Daily Affirmation of Love:
“Deep within my heart, I find my center.
I am ready to accept my truth over external opinions.
I have come to a place in my life where I have the courage to speak my own truth.
I recognize that my truth may be different from the truth of others.
I give myself permission to live my truth.
I am far enough along the path of life to see that I deserve to stand in my truth.
I access my authenticity.
I am safe to be who I am.
I am safe to express my truth.”
Self-Reflection Questions:
Where have I not been truthful with myself?
How can I change that?
What truths will I never compromise?
How did this exercise feel? Did any parts feel challenging or particularly helpful? I encourage you to return to this exercise regularly (even daily) to ground yourself in this season and beyond.
Light and love,
Aria
