20-minute Affirmation Exercise: Trust your Inner Guide

Hello, beautiful one.

This is a space where you can breathe and be. We’re going to take the next 20 minutes just for you.

As I’ve guided countless women through trauma, hardship, and loss, I’ve offered the practice of loving affirmations to help them connect to their inner wisdom. When we’re going through a change or challenge, we can forget that we have limitless intuition within us. Reconnecting with our breath (and our bodies) can be the daily reset we need. On top of that, reading loving truths reminds us of the big picture: that we’re resilient. And that we’re worthy of speaking our truth.

The exercise starts with an affirmation script, followed by self-reflection questions. While you can do the affirmation any way that you feel comfortable, I find that the following two options work great:

Option 1: Reading the affirmation aloud. This option is best if you are comfortable meditating or practicing mindfulness with your eyes open.

Option 2: Recording the affirmation using your phone, and then listening back to the recording. This option is best if you prefer to lie down and close your eyes while you practice this self-care exercise.

Before you begin, find a comfortable place to sit (or lie down). Take a moment to feel the way your body connects with the surface beneath you. Notice your breath. There’s no need to slow down or count your breaths- just breathe naturally.

Your Daily Affirmation of Love:

“I give myself permission to trust myself.

I choose to trust my inner guidance.

All the answers are within me.

I embrace what my heart is telling me.

I notice my gut feelings and I stand in this truth: my feelings are always valid and my body tells me the truth.

What is good for me feels right to me. That’s how I know to move forward with confidence.

I trust myself in the presence of others. I can listen to their input and go within to check if what they say is right for me.

I’m learning to trust myself more and more.

This journey is giving me strength.

I tap into the courage that is welled up inside of me.

I stand taller and breathe easier.

I walk with more confidence.

I speak with greater authority.

I am in control of my life.

I feel myself coming into who I truly am. I am at home in my own skin.

I finally have the confidence to speak my truth. My voice is stronger. I speak with clarity.

I listen to my inner wisdom and act accordingly, confident in my decisions.”

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. When did I listen to my gut instinct? What was the outcome?

  2. When did I ignore what my inner voice was telling me? How did that turn out?

  3. How can I choose to trust myself today?

How did this exercise feel? Did any parts feel particularly powerful or challenging? I encourage you to return to these exercises regularly (even daily) to ground yourself in this season and beyond.

Aria
